Card 2 — Ujjayi Pranayama (Ocean Breath) Ujjayi is one of the oldest pranayamas in the Hatha tradition — the slight throat constriction on both inhale and exhale creates an audible oceanic sound that occupies the mind just enough to prevent it from wandering. That sound is not decorative; it's a focus anchor. Neuroscience calls what it triggers vagal tone; yogis have been calling it prana for over 2,000 years.
Practice: sit tall, close your eyes. Inhale slowly through the nose for 4 counts — feel a mild constriction in the back of the throat, like you're fogging a mirror but with your mouth closed. Exhale through the nose for 6 counts, same controlled sound. Repeat 8–10 cycles. Total: 5–10 minutes.
Card 3 — Prana Mudra (The Vital Energy Seal) Touch the tips of your ring finger and little finger to the tip of your thumb — index and middle fingers extend forward. Palms face up, resting on your knees. Hold for 5–15 minutes with both hands.
Three effects worth knowing: it restores flagging vital energy when the afternoon has taken everything you had; it quiets the mental chatter that loops after a hard day; and over time, it builds a kind of nervous system resilience that stress can't erode as easily.
