We asked AI to invent an animal species that doesn't exist — and it did NOT hold back.

Meet Vorpathos calcificans — the Mournful Petrified Grief-Vole.

It grows a calcium shell over its entire body throughout its lifetime. The shell grows roughly 2mm per decade. Each ring on the shell corresponds to one witnessed injustice.

At full calcification, the animal stops moving. It is not dead. It is waiting.

Other Grief-Voles gather beside the petrified ones. The gatherings are silent. No one has studied why. Honestly? Science isn't sure it should.
