Before layout grids, there were job cases with 150 individual lead letters.
The person deciding where words sit on the page has existed for 5,000 years.
They just kept changing job titles.
Scribe → Illuminator → Print Compositor → Typesetter → Graphic Designer → UX Designer.
Each role died when a new tool arrived.
Each tool made the next generation faster — and removed one more physical constraint between the idea and the reader.
The wireframe is just a very fast compositor's stick.
