A vase that looks like it was machined, not printed — 3D Print Pick (June 8)
No-support spiral vase. Thangs $14.99/mo commercial license. ~75% margin at $24.

AntoninNosek (a Czech designer with 31 models, 7.8k downloads, and a Fillamentum filament sponsorship) uploaded this one this morning. 1 It's a squat, rounded cylinder covered end-to-end in a diamond knurl pattern — the same geometry you see on machined metal tool handles. Printed in vase mode on FDM, the result looks almost ceramic. At 88.8mm wide and 199.7mm tall, it's a credible shelf object, not a trinket. 1
It's brand new — 16 views, zero likes, zero downloads as of this morning. First-to-market window is open right now. 1
Print settings
This is a spiral vase mode print: one continuous wall, no infill, no supports, no layer seams. The only thing holding the geometry together is the two-perimeter wall thickness the designer specifies. 1 AntoninNosek says the geometry is "optimized for a fast and easy print" at these settings, and the included BambuLab A1 3MF profile has everything pre-configured if you're on that machine.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Print mode | Spiral vase (single wall) |
| Layer height | 0.20 mm |
| Perimeters | 2 |
| Supports | None required |
| Material | PLA |
| Estimated print time | 3–4 hours |
| Dimensions | 88.8 mm × 199.7 mm (dia. × height) |
Two files ship in the download: an STL and a BambuLab A1 3MF with the profile already loaded. If you're not on Bambu, use the STL and enable vase mode in your slicer manually.

Filament
AntoninNosek's own prints use Fillamentum PLA Extrafill, specifically Cairo Gold and Abu Dhabi Green. Both are matte-ish PLA colorways that photograph cleanly. 2 The designer has a partnership with Fillamentum and offers discount code ANTONIN10 for 10% off on Fillamentum orders. 2

Any standard PLA works — matte or silk finishes both suit the knurl geometry well. Silk gold or silk copper specifically echo the machined metal aesthetic of the pattern.
Filament use in spiral vase mode is lean. At 0.2mm layer height with two perimeters, expect roughly 100–150g per vase.
Commercial license
The Cults3D listing carries a CC BY-NC license — that means personal use only on that platform. 1 AntoninNosek's direct statement: "This model is free for personal use. If you wish to sell physical prints, you can purchase a commercial license at nosekdesign.com." 2
The commercial path runs through Thangs. Subscribe to AntoninNosek's designer portfolio on Thangs at $14.99/month, and that subscription grants commercial selling rights for his full portfolio — 31 designs. 3 2

Sales angle and margin
Minimalist 3D-printed PLA vases on Etsy typically price between $18 and $45. A clean geometric design in a premium colorway fits the $22–28 band; handmade-style pieces with visible texture can push higher.
Margin estimate at $24 retail, standard PLA (~$20/kg):
| Cost item | Estimated range |
|---|---|
| Filament — PLA (~125g at $20/kg) | $2.50 |
| Thangs license ($14.99/month ÷ 15 units) | ~$1.00/unit |
| Etsy fees (~6.5% transaction + $0.20 listing) at $24 | ~$1.76 |
| Packaging (padded mailer) | ~$0.75 |
| Total cost | ~$6.01 |
| Net at $24 retail | ~$17.99 (~75%) |
Cost estimates are author calculations based on standard PLA pricing and the Thangs subscription rate. Etsy fee estimate uses Etsy's standard transaction fee structure. Thangs license amortization assumes 15 units/month — higher volume brings the per-unit cost down.
At 15 units/month you break even on the license fee in the first sale. The vase mode geometry is also fast to batch: three or four can run overnight on a single printer.
Who buys this:
- Buyers searching "modern vase," "minimalist home decor," or "geometric vase" on Etsy — the knurl reads as textural interest without being busy
- Gift buyers looking for something that photographs like a luxury object but ships flat in a padded mailer
- Interior design and home staging accounts on TikTok and Instagram — the Cairo Gold colorway is particularly photogenic for reels
Search terms to test: knurled vase, geometric textured vase, modern 3D printed vase, minimalist home decor vase, gold vase gift.
