The routing via ICN is what gets it there — United's own direct SFO→PVG and Chinese carrier options price meaningfully higher. It's also the lowest SFO→China fare on the current board, undercutting the Cathay Pacific China-city series (posted around $811) by about $30. 1

CX Da Nang and SAS Vilnius (Day 3): Both have crossed The Flight Deal's own two-day freshness threshold. Run ITA Matrix before assuming availability — if seats show up, these remain attractive fares: the CX $903 Da Nang fare allows Hong Kong stopovers at $100/stop per direction, and the SAS $680 Vilnius fare is visa-free for US citizens. Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles (Star Alliance) is running a 50% transfer bonus from Rove Miles through June 30. 7 Headline rates after the bonus: Turkish-metal SFO→Istanbul business class one-way at 65,000 Turkish miles → 44,000 Rove miles; Star Alliance European business at 85,000–90,000 Turkish miles → approximately 57,000–60,000 Rove miles.

The Hawaii sweet spot that once drove West Coast interest has been devalued from ~7,500 to ~22,500+ miles one-way, removing the main domestic use case. Program changes on the radar

Singapore Airlines award seat restrictions (effective June 2): Singapore Airlines now restricts business class seat selection on KrisFlyer (Singapore Airlines' own frequent flyer program) Saver, Advantage, and Promo award tickets. Front-section seats are unavailable at booking and unlock 96 hours before departure. PPS Club and Solitaire PPS members are exempt; 737 routes are also exempt. 12 Whether the restriction carries over to partner program bookings (Aeroplan, United MileagePlus) on Singapore Airlines metal has not been confirmed.

Alaska Mileage Plan partner booking fee increase (July 1): Alaska Airlines will raise the non-refundable booking fee on partner award tickets from $12.50 to $20 per one-way, effective July 1. 13 Changes remain free and don't re-trigger the fee. Round-trip tickets are charged once. If you have Alaska partner awards in mind, booking before June 30 saves $7.50 per one-way segment.
