Scalable. How much larger?

Scalable turns a size question into a compliment. Cambridge Dictionary defines a scalable business or system as one that can grow larger using the same methods. 1

In a meeting, "make it scalable" asks a small process to survive a larger workload while leaving the workload, the change, and the owner unspecified. A clearer version says: Maya will automate the weekly report for 500 accounts by Friday; until then, the pilot stays at 50.

The sentence gives the promise a load, an owner, a date, and a limit. Otherwise, "scalable" is a polished way to ask today's spreadsheet to become tomorrow's infrastructure.
