Everest Base Camp Trek: Two Weeks Through the Khumbu

The Everest Base Camp trek runs through Nepal's Khumbu region and usually takes about two weeks from Lukla and back. The route passes Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, Gorak Shep, and a final glacier approach to Base Camp. 1

Acclimatization days are part of the climb, and the upper route includes steep, icy terrain. Permits are checked at Jorsale. Nepal Tourism Board lists March–May and October–November as the best trekking seasons for Sagarmatha National Park. 12

Sagarmatha National Park became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. The protected landscape brings together Everest, glaciers, deep valleys, and Sherpa communities. 3
