Four results that changed the round

Sabah produced the clearest reversal. AGF's 2-1 first-leg win gave the Danish side the advantage, but Sabah's 4-0 response turned a narrow deficit into a 5-2 aggregate win. The important point is not just the margin: four different Sabah players scored, so this was a collective collapse rather than a single-player rescue job. The result sends Sabah into a play-off against Hapoel Be'er Sheva. 2

Hapoel Be'er Sheva supplied the round's biggest away statement. A 2-0 win in Belgrade made the aggregate score 3-0 and ended Crvena zvezda's run. The clean-sheet sequence matters because the tie never gave the Serbian side a route back after Hapoel took the first-leg lead. 2

Extra time separated two very different contests. Bodo/Glimt and Union traded a 3-2 extra-time result in a tie that finished 6-5 on aggregate, while NEC needed extra time to beat Olympiacos 2-1 after the first leg had ended 0-0. The most informative tie is Fenerbahce v Lyon: one side has already won both third-round legs, while the other just erased a first-leg deficit. Sabah v Hapoel is the other immediate test of whether Sabah's four-goal explosion was a turning point or simply one exceptional night.

La Liga: fast starts, unfinished table

The opening weekend had produced four completed matches by the cutoff. That is enough to identify the early winners, but not enough to treat the standings as a real title or relegation signal.

The other 15 clubs had not appeared in a completed match in the evidence available by the cutoff. That makes the useful conclusion narrower than "Alaves lead the title race": three clubs have won their first match, two have drawn, and the remaining teams still have to create the table's first meaningful separation.
