1. Chatbots beat AI search summaries at flagging foreign propaganda

• NPR and NewsGuard tested 30 false narratives linked to China, Iran, and Russia across ChatGPT, Gemini, search engines, and AI-generated search summaries. 1
• Chatbots challenged the false premises about three-quarters of the time on average; AI summaries performed worse than both chatbots and conventional search results. 1
• The test used questions based on narratives first published between December 2025 and July 2026, so the result measures these scenarios rather than every form of misinformation. 1

2. Data-center power costs enter the U.S. midterm fight

• Agence France-Presse reported that data centers appeared in campaigns for at least 21 races across 18 states, with electricity bills and facility noise driving the issue. 2
• An independent market monitor attributed a $9.3 billion, or 174%, one-year increase in capacity costs on the Ohio Senate battleground grid and 12 other states to data-center demand. 2
• Texas froze new projects while it studies power and water effects; New York imposed a one-year moratorium; Pennsylvania added cost, water, hiring, and consultation requirements, while seven large AI and cloud companies signed a voluntary ratepayer pledge. 2

3. Pony.ai and FutureLink plan 200 autonomous taxis for Seoul

• China’s Pony.ai and South Korea’s FutureLink signed a strategic cooperation agreement to introduce 200 autonomous taxis across Seoul and commercialize the service by 2028. 3
• FutureLink plans to import and certify the first 10 vehicles, then deploy another 190; the companies intend to move toward a joint venture. 3
• FutureLink says it has already piloted modified Hyundai Kona vehicles for more than 80,000 kilometers in Seoul’s Gangnam area, making vehicle certification and the import sequence the next practical checkpoints. 3

4. OpenAI and Thailand start an eight-week accelerator

• OpenAI and Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation launched an accelerator for 10 startups, split between medical and wellness AI and education. 45
• Each team receives $2,000 in API credits, one-on-one technical guidance, a dedicated mentor, and weekly sessions covering testing, evaluation, responsible AI, privacy, security, cost, growth, and fundraising. 5
• The program sets a product, pilot, evaluation, or commercial milestone for every startup and plans to conclude with a Demo Day in Bangkok in November. 45

5. Nigerian PR body appoints AGENTPR for WPRF Abuja

• The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations appointed Cihan Media Communications’ AGENTPR as the official media-intelligence platform for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum in Abuja. 6
• AGENTPR will provide monitoring before, during, and after the forum, including issue detection, Nigerian and African media coverage, international trade press, broadcast signals, social conversation, and emerging risks. 6
• The forum is scheduled for November 15–21, 2026, giving the platform a defined public-sector deployment window and a later point at which its monitoring role can be assessed. 6
