The latest official European bulletin adds a date, not a new hantavirus event. ECDC's week-35 Communicable Disease Threats Report, published on 28 August and covering 22–28 August, lists several active threats but contains no hantavirus or Andes-virus item. 1

The week-34 count is higher than the five notifications recorded for week 33 in the preceding bulletin, while the year-to-date total remains lower than the 2025 comparator. Germany's figures describe a national notification stream; they do not establish a Europe-wide trend.

The two research items address different bottlenecks. HantAmeriQ targets breadth and turnaround in laboratory detection, while the mass-gathering review targets the operational conditions in which delayed recognition and passenger dispersal complicate response. What would change the assessment

  • A later RKI bulletin with a material rise in weekly notifications or a new national European report would change the European comparison.
