HBO Max

The week's single best-timed event is My Adventures with Superman landing with a 100% Tomatometer, though the season runs weekly through July. Two CNN documentaries round out the back half of the week for viewers who want non-fiction.

My Adventures with Superman — Season 3 premiere ✦ Binge-Worthy

Type: Animated series (action/comedy) · Season 3 premiere: June 14 on HBO Max (Adult Swim Toonami June 13 at midnight ET/PT) · 10 episodes, weekly Sundays · Rating: TV-PG Cast: Jack Quaid (Clark Kent/Superman), Alice Lee (Lois Lane), Ishmel Sahid (Jimmy Olsen) Directors: Jen Bennett, Diana Huh, Christina Manrique · EP: Sam Register
Three seasons in and the show is still getting better. My Adventures with Superman takes a younger, anime-inflected Clark Kent navigating both his Superman identity and a real emotional life — Lois and Jimmy are actual characters with their own arcs, not accessories. Season 3 opens with Episode 1 ("Into the New World") and holds a 100% Tomatometer from its first round of critics, a Certified Fresh-level opening. 1
RT Critics: 100% (7 reviews, Certified Fresh start) · RT Audience: No ratings yet (just premiered)
Critic Nick Valdez at ComicBook.com gave it a 5/5 and put it plainly: "There's enough here for fans of Superman's legendary comic stories to be surprised by, enough for anime fans to love when it comes to its action, and enough for Adult Swim fans to want even more of it." 1 Allyson Johnson at But Why Tho? scored it 9.5/10 and called it "a formidable display of artistry and strong, incentivized writing." 1
If you haven't seen Seasons 1 and 2: they're both on HBO Max and the show does not ask you to bring DC comics knowledge. It builds its own continuity from scratch.
Verdict: Binge-Worthy — 100% from critics is a hard opening act to ignore. The week's single strongest debut.

Rick and Morty — Season 9, Episode 4 ✦ Binge-Worthy

Type: Animated adult comedy · Episode 4 ("A Ricker Runs Through It") arrives June 15 (after Adult Swim June 14 airing) · Weekly Mon–Sat schedule · Rating: TV-14 Created by: Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon · Cast: Ian Cardoni (Rick), Harry Belden (Morty), Sarah Chalke, Spencer Grammer, Chris Parnell
Season 9 is running at 100% Tomatometer on 9 critic reviews, which is the show at the top of its current form. The series overall sits at 91% from 256 reviews and 82% from more than 10,000 audience ratings. 2 GamesRadar+'s David Opie said it in so many words: "If you've thought about giving up on Rick and Morty — or did already — trust me when I say that 2026 is the year you should give the show another chance." 2
RT Critics (S9): 100% (9 reviews) · RT Audience (S9): 82%
Verdict: Binge-Worthy — catch up on Episodes 1–3 and watch Ep. 4 back-to-back on Monday.

Proud (June 12) is the sleeper pick of the week across all four platforms. The 8-episode Polish HBO Original follows Filip (Ignacy Liss), a reckless young gay man whose life is upended by a family tragedy that leaves him sole caregiver of his infant niece. The series won the Grand Prix in the international competition at the Series Mania festival in Lille, France (March 2026) — the highest prize in European prestige television — and arrives timed to Pride month. 3 No RT score yet (the RT page for an international Polish-language premiere may not populate until post-release), but the festival pedigree is a credible signal.
Disaster: The Chernobyl Meltdown (June 16) is a 4-episode CNN Original documentary marking the 40th anniversary of the April 26, 1986 nuclear disaster. Produced by Windfall Films, it covers the reactor collapse, the Soviet cover-up, and present-day aftermath through survivor interviews. The series premiered on CNN on March 1, 2026, and arrives on HBO Max for on-demand streaming this week. 4 No RT critics score yet.
Kara Swisher Wants to Live Forever (June 18) sends veteran tech journalist Kara Swisher into the multi-billion-dollar longevity and anti-aging industry — labs, clinics (including sites in South Korea), and conversations with Sam Altman (OpenAI CEO), CRISPR pioneer Jennifer Doudna (Nobel laureate), biohacker Bryan Johnson, and Scott Galloway. The series premiered on CNN in April 2026; no RT score yet. 5

Apple TV+

No new series premieres this week — the next Apple TV+ debut (Colin Farrell in Sugar Season 2) lands June 19, one day outside the window. What's here instead is a season finale, a midseason standout, and two ongoing series that have been quietly earning their keep since May.

Widow's Bay — Season 1 finale (Episode 10) ✦ Binge-Worthy

Type: Horror-comedy · Season finale (Ep. 10 of 10): June 17 · Previously weekly Wednesdays since April 29 · Rating: not specified Created by: Katie Dippold · Starring: Matthew Rhys (The Americans), Kate O'Flynn, Kevin Carroll
Tom Loftis (Rhys) is the widower mayor of Widow's Bay, a small island off the New England coast, convinced he can rebrand his deeply cursed town as a tourist destination. The show mixes horror, comedy, and mystery in a way that rarely works on paper but lands here. 9to5Mac called it "the best Apple TV show in years" in early June 2026. 6
RT Critics: 97% (Certified Fresh) · RT Audience: 93%
"Katie Dippold successfully continues to invest in eccentricity with this outlandish horror-comedy that stokes the genre's well-worn tropes to winning effect, bringing scares, laughs, and a game cast." — RT Critics Consensus 6
A 97/93 split between critics and audience is unusual alignment for a horror-comedy — the genre tends to cleave. All 10 episodes are available now ahead of the finale.
Verdict: Binge-Worthy — if you haven't watched it yet, this week is a good reason to catch up. Start from Episode 1.

Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed — Season 1, Episode 6 ✦ Binge-Worthy

Type: Dark comedy · Episode 6 ("Rosebuds") of 10 · June 17 · Season finale July 15 · Directed by Alethea Jones Created by: David J. Rosen · Starring: Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) as Paula Saunders; Jake Johnson (New Girl) as Karl; Jon Michael Hill as Detective Baxter; Brandon Flynn as Trevor; Murray Bartlett as Frank Budkin; Dolly de Leon as Detective Gonzalez
Paula Saunders is a recently divorced fact-checker who starts paying a webcam performer to listen to her vent. She witnesses him get brutally attacked during a session, and the show then pulls her — and the audience — into a tangle of murder, blackmail, and (somehow) youth soccer. 7 Maslany is doing genuinely unusual work with this role: the show lets her be scattered, wrong, and funny simultaneously.
RT Critics: 93% (Certified Fresh) · RT Audience: 85%
"Tatiana Maslany boldly leads this twistedly thrilling whodunit, serving as a fascinating exploration of the unexpected through compelling storytelling, diverting escapades, and the undeniable assurance of Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed." — RT Critics Consensus 7
Verdict: Binge-Worthy — at 93/85, this is the best show on Apple TV+ most people aren't watching. Eps 1–5 take about four hours total; start now.

Star City (Ep. 4, June 12) continues its run as the week's best ongoing drama. The For All Mankind spin-off — set inside the Soviet space program, following KGB surveillance boss Lyudmilla Raskova (Anna Maxwell Martin) and chief designer Sergei Korolev (Rhys Ifans) — has held its 97% Certified Fresh rating through three episodes. 8 Four episodes are now available; the season runs through July 10.
Cape Fear (Ep. 3, June 12) stars Javier Bardem as Max Cady, the released convict circling the Bowden family (Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson) in this Apple TV+ limited series executive-produced by Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese. Three episodes in, the 75% Tomatometer holds. 9 The critic/audience gap (75% vs. 60%) reflects the same pattern as last week: critics respond to Bardem; viewers wanting faster pacing are less forgiving.
Unconditional (Ep. 7, June 12) is an Israeli drama-thriller about a mother (Liraz Chamami) who refuses to accept that her daughter Gali (Talia Lynne Ronn) was guilty of drug smuggling in Moscow and risks everything to get her out. 10 Its 100% Tomatometer is from only 6 critic reviews — a small sample — but Cristina Escobar at RogerEbert.com praised it as "a series of haunting, thought-provoking questions, which is a lot more than most of its peers can boast." 10

Netflix

Netflix puts its headline film (Song Sung Blue) on Saturday and closes the week on Thursday with its first US-set Harlan Coben thriller. In between: a 97% doc comedy that most subscribers haven't found yet and a historic animated first from Mexico.

Song Sung Blue ✦ Watch It

Type: Movie (musical biographical drama) · SVOD debut: June 13 on Netflix US · Runtime: 2h 12m · Rating: PG-13 Director: Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Dolemite Is My Name) · Starring: Hugh Jackman as Mike Sardina, Kate Hudson as Claire Sardina · Also starring: Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson
Mike and Claire Sardina are a down-on-their-luck Milwaukee married couple who form a Neil Diamond tribute band called "Lightning & Thunder" and ride it from dive bars to unexpected hometown celebrity. The film is based on the 2008 documentary of the same name — a true story stranger than it has any right to be. 11 It had a brief theatrical run over Christmas 2025 and a stint on Peacock before landing on Netflix.
RT Critics: 75% (Certified Fresh, ~75 reviews per Forbes Dec. 2025) 12 · RT Audience: 98% (Verified Hot)
"With pitch-perfect performances, Song Sung Blue hits every emotional chord, delivering a wholesome, family-friendly film and a fitting tribute to one of the most unlikely rock stars of our time." — RT Critics Consensus 11
The 23-point spread between critics (75%) and audiences (98%) tells a clear story: critics found it somewhat constrained by its biographical structure; audiences embraced exactly that warmth. This is a crowd-pleaser executing at a high level.
Verdict: Watch It — ideal Saturday night viewing. Bring someone who likes Neil Diamond, or just bring the willingness to be slightly unexpectedly moved.

André Is an Idiot ✦ Binge-Worthy

Type: Documentary · Arrives: June 17 · Directed by: Tony Benna
André Ricciardi is an eccentric advertising creative who, after a terminal colon cancer diagnosis, decides to document his final years — using candid footage and whimsical stop-motion animation. The film is very funny and then quietly devastating in a way that sneak-attacks you. 13
RT Critics: 97% (Certified Fresh)
"A public service announcement with a disarming sense of humor, André Is an Idiot brings a light touch to a morbid topic and is all the more powerful for it." — RT Critics Consensus 13
One top critic called it "one of the most moving and profound cancer stories you will see." It's one of the highest-rated documentary comedies of 2025 and most Netflix subscribers haven't heard of it. 13
Verdict: Binge-Worthy — 97% and it'll make you feel things. That's the brief.

I Will Find You ✦ Watch It

Type: Limited series (crime/thriller) · Premieres: June 18 · Not yet rated · Based on: Harlan Coben's bestselling novel Starring: Sam Worthington as the imprisoned father, Britt Lower, Milo Ventimiglia
This is the first US-set adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel produced exclusively for Netflix — a notable distinction, since most of Netflix's Coben adaptations have been set in Europe (Poland, France, Spain, the UK). A man imprisoned for murdering his young son receives evidence suggesting the boy may still be alive. He escapes and starts searching. 14 No RT score yet; the series premieres on June 18.
If the previous Coben Netflix adaptations (The Stranger, The Innocent, Safe, The Woods) worked for you, the format is familiar: propulsive mystery plotting, twists that tend to outpace their setup, and a contained cast working through a single high-stakes question. 14
Verdict: Watch It — the first-look score will emerge within days of the June 18 premiere. Worth queuing up if you're a Coben viewer.

I Am Frankelda (June 12) is Mexico's first-ever stop-motion feature film, produced with a blessing from Guillermo del Toro, making its Netflix world premiere. No RT score yet; one early review called it "a bit dense narratively" but appeared to lean positive. 15 This is a meaningful cultural event regardless of where the score lands.
Maternal Instinct (June 12) is a Netflix Original true-crime documentary about the 2020 East Texas case of Taylor Parker, who faked a pregnancy for months before committing a violent crime against 21-year-old expectant mother Reagan Simmons-Hancock — a case that ended with Parker on death row. 15 No RT score yet.
The two Percy Jackson films (47% and 43% Tomatometer) arrive as library additions on June 15. 16 17 Worth watching if you have kids who haven't seen them; not worth revisiting as an adult looking for good movies.

Hulu

Hulu has one genuine original premiere this week and one sharp miss.

Never Change! ✦ Watch It

Type: Hulu Original comedy film · Premieres: June 17 · Runtime: 1h 38m · Directed by: Marty Schousboe · Written by: John Reynolds Starring: Sofia Black-D'Elia, Topher Grace, Rudy Pankow, Sunita Mani, Zach Cherry, Ana Gasteyer (as the school principal) Produced by: American High / LD Entertainment · Tribeca Festival world premiere prior to streaming
The class of 2008 at North Meadows High School never got to graduate — a tornado took out the school on graduation day. Now in their 30s, the surviving seniors have been summoned back to complete their unfinished education, and all the old social hierarchies, relationships, and suppressed histories come flooding back. 18 Only 2 reviews exist on Rotten Tomatoes as of June 11 (both in the B range), so no Tomatometer percentage yet — scores will accumulate after the June 17 premiere.
RT Critics: Not yet rated (2 pre-release reviews: B- from Blu-ray.com, B from The Contending) 18 · RT Audience: Not yet rated
Verdict: Watch It — the Tribeca premiere and the cast (particularly Ana Gasteyer, who is reliably excellent) are reasonable signals. The premise has enough to work with. Check scores after June 17 if you prefer data first.

The Home (2025) ✦ Skip It

Type: Psychological horror film (theatrical, 2025) · Arrives on Hulu: June 13 · Runtime: 1h 35m · Rating: R (language, gore, strong bloody violence, some sexual content) Director: James DeMonaco (creator of The Purge franchise) · Co-written by: James DeMonaco and Adam Cantor Starring: Pete Davidson as Max, John Glover as Lou, Bruce Altman as Dr. Sabian
Max (Davidson) is sentenced to community service at a quiet retirement home. The residents on the fourth floor are off-limits. He starts investigating. The premise has actual potential — DeMonaco built a career on the "what if ordinary people did terrible things" concept — but the execution fumbles it. 19
RT Critics: 29% (Rotten, 55 reviews) · RT Audience: 58%
"The Home drowns its intriguing premise in a mire of muddled storytelling, illogical twists, and lifeless performances, resulting in a frustrating and tensionless mess." — RT Critics Consensus 19
Variety's Murtada Elfadl put it directly: "Davidson shows he may not have the chops to carry a horror film, while DeMonaco fails to deliver any thrills this time." 19 The film grossed $1.6 million theatrically in the US. The 29/58 split suggests audiences found scattered moments that worked; critics did not.
Verdict: Skip It — with Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed on Apple TV+ and Widow's Bay finishing its season this week, there are better tension-and-dread options available.

Also on Hulu this week

The Season (June 17, all 6 episodes) stars Jessie Mei Li (Shadow and Bone, All of Us Strangers) in a Hong Kong-set drama about the city's high society. 20 No RT page found; limited pre-release details available. Worth watching if you follow Jessie Mei Li's work, with the caveat that no independent quality signal exists yet.
