NYNJ World Cup matchday guide: Secaucus trains, shuttle lanes, and fan zones
A practical NYNJ guide for the remaining stadium dates, covering Secaucus rail transfers, official shuttle hubs, Midtown matchday street changes, and the best official fan zones by date and borough.

If your NYNJ ticket is for the Meadowlands, build the day around two bottlenecks: getting to Secaucus or a shuttle pickup before the match, and choosing a fan zone that does not fight your route home afterward. As of June 21, the NYNJ Stadium schedule still has six local matchdays ahead: Norway vs Senegal, Ecuador vs Germany, Panama vs England, a Round of 32, a Round of 16, and the final. The official schedule lists those kickoffs in Eastern Time; the UTC equivalents are included below for travel planning across time zones.

The common thread is simple: there is no general spectator parking on stadium property on matchdays. The host committee says stadium access is limited to official transportation options, with transport tickets reserved for FIFA match ticket holders and checked before boarding. 5
Pick one stadium route and commit to it
For most visitors, the lowest-friction plan is rail: take NJ TRANSIT to Secaucus Junction, then transfer to the Meadowlands Rail Line for the stadium. NJ TRANSIT says round-trip tickets to "Meadowlands" include the Secaucus transfer to and from the stadium, and matchday service begins roughly four hours before the event, with trains every 10 to 20 minutes before the match. 2

The official NYNJ Stadium Shuttle is the more direct choice if your hotel or watch plan puts you near a pickup hub. The host committee lists three New York City hubs, Midtown North, Midtown East, and Port Authority Bus Terminal, plus a New Jersey park-and-ride at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. Shuttle tickets must be bought in advance, are non-transferable, and are limited to FIFA match ticket holders. 5
Rideshare is the fallback, not the main plan. The host committee says Uber drop-off and pickup happen off stadium property at Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment, followed by a 1.3-mile, 2.1-kilometer walk to the stadium gates. It also warns that fares and wait times are expected to be higher than usual before and after matches. 5
Midtown will change before the match, not when you arrive
New York City's DOT has designated June 22, June 25, June 27, June 30, July 5, and July 19 as matchday Gridlock Alert Days. The city says dedicated bus-only space and street closures begin six hours before each local match and can remain in place up to three hours after the match ends. 3
That matters if you are moving through Manhattan even without a stadium ticket. On matchdays, 42nd Street becomes a bus-only corridor from First Avenue to Twelfth Avenue, Sixth Avenue gets two eastern bus-only lanes from 42nd to 59th Streets, and the Fifth Avenue bus lanes from 42nd to 59th Streets are part of the World Cup corridor. DOT also lists bus-only blocks on West 40th, West 41st, and West 58th Streets, plus restrictions around Dyer Avenue and Columbus Circle. 3
For Penn Station rail users, the most important street-level note is around queuing. DOT says 33rd Street between Sixth and Eighth Avenues and 32nd Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues close to vehicles on matchdays, with closures beginning at least six hours before each match. 3
The MTA travel guide adds the subway layer. It says some subway lines will have increased service on matchdays and major events, including extra 1, C, and F local train service before and after matches, more frequent C trains between 10:00 AM and 10:30 PM on matchdays, and extra 7 train service through June 27 for the Queens Group Stage HQ. 4
Choose your fan zone by date, borough, and exit route
The NYNJ region has several official fan-event locations, but the right one changes by tournament phase.

| Fan event | Dates listed by organizers | Transit hook | Best use case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Queens Group Stage HQ, USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center | June 11 to June 27 | 7 train or LIRR to Mets-Willets Point | Group-stage doubleheaders and Queens-based visitors <cite index="6" title="Fan Events " url=" FIFA World Cup 2026™ NYNJ |
| Jersey Fan Hub, Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison | Select dates June 11 to July 19 | PATH/NJ routing; check the venue ticket page before going | New Jersey base days, especially if you do not want a late Manhattan return <cite index="6" title="Fan Events " url=" FIFA World Cup 2026™ NYNJ |
| Staten Island Fan Zone, SIUH Community Park | June 29 to July 2 | Staten Island Railway to St. George per MTA guide | A lower-intensity knockout-week watch plan <cite index="6" title="Fan Events " url=" FIFA World Cup 2026™ NYNJ |
| Fan Village Rockefeller Center | July 6 to July 19 | B/D/F/M to 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Center | Late-stage matches and final-week Midtown energy <cite index="6" title="Fan Events " url=" FIFA World Cup 2026™ NYNJ |

Queens is the most useful fan zone this week if you want a ticketed, stadium-style watch setup without going to the Meadowlands. The official Queens page says the HQ is open every day through June 27, with free general admission tickets unlocked by code QUEENSHQ while supplies last, and every guest must reserve a ticket in advance. 8
For June 22, Queens lists operating hours of 11:30 AM to 11:00 PM local time, or 15:30 to June 23, 03:00 UTC, with Argentina vs Austria, France vs Iraq, and Norway vs Senegal watch parties. For June 25, it lists 2:30 PM to 12:30 AM local time, or 18:30 to June 26, 04:30 UTC, with Ecuador vs Germany, Tunisia vs Netherlands, and Türkiye vs USA. 8
Jersey Fan Hub is the better pick if your base is in Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken, Harrison, or elsewhere in New Jersey. The official page says reserved tickets are required, general admission fan hub days are now free, and Sports Illustrated Stadium will use stadium-floor viewing, a 60-foot screen, live entertainment, and community programming. 7
What to check before leaving your hotel
Do this the night before, then again three hours before you leave.
- Match ticket and transport ticket: Stadium transport services are reserved for match ticket holders, and the host committee says both transport and FIFA match tickets are checked before boarding. 5
- Rail or shuttle purchase path: NJ TRANSIT tells fans to buy round-trip Meadowlands rail tickets in the NJ TRANSIT app or ticket machines; the host committee routes shuttle buyers through the official shuttle ticketing link. 2 5
- Bag and bottle rules: NYNJ's fan-events page lists one clear bag per person, either a one-gallon storage bag or a clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bag up to 12 by 12 by 6 inches, plus one sealed soft plastic 20-ounce water bottle. 6
- MTA service alerts: MTA tells subway and bus riders to use the MTA app, and LIRR or Metro-North riders to use TrainTime, for real-time service information during the tournament. 4
- Alcohol ID: Official NYNJ fan events require appropriate ID for alcohol purchases; for people without a U.S. driver's license, the organizer specifies a passport showing age 21 or older. 8
Best plans by fan type
If you have a stadium ticket: choose rail through Secaucus or an official shuttle, not rideshare. If you take NJ TRANSIT, plan to be at Secaucus well before the first post-work rush wave. If you take a shuttle, pick the hub closest to where you will be after the match, not where you happen to be at lunch.
If you are in New York without a stadium ticket: use Queens through June 27 for the biggest official group-stage setup, then shift attention to Rockefeller Center from July 6 and Brooklyn Bridge Park or Staten Island on the listed dates. Check each ticket page before you go because several official fan events require a reserved free ticket.
If you are staying in New Jersey: do not default to Manhattan for atmosphere. Harrison's Jersey Fan Hub is a real option, especially for late returns, and the stadium route itself runs through New Jersey rail infrastructure.
If you are flying or connecting by rail: keep your final leg flexible. The MTA guide points visitors to subway, bus, LIRR, and Metro-North airport and regional connections, while NJ TRANSIT and the host committee control the stadium leg. Build in more time than a normal New York transfer would require. 4
The cleanest NYNJ day is not the one with the shortest map route. It is the one where your stadium route, fan-zone ticket, bag, and post-match exit all agree with each other before you leave the hotel.
