Agent Plugins and VS Code 1.132: two builder workflows to try now
Agent Plugins 1.0 packages related Agent Skills and MCP servers into one portable directory, while leaving installation, permissions, sandboxing, and trust to each client. Google says Agents CLI and Data Agent Kit already support the format. 1
GitHub Copilot CLI added an experimental
/worktree command for a separate conversation in an isolated Git worktree, plus /rewind for restoring Copilot's conversation and file changes without discarding later edits. 2VS Code 1.132 adds
/btw side chats that share the primary chat's context and prompt cache, along with element-level feedback in the integrated browser. 3Try it today: keep the main agent on your acceptance criteria, use a worktree for the risky refactor, and reserve side chat for explanation. Package a plugin only when a skill and its MCP server genuinely need to travel together.
