Issue 7: a $9.99 tableware set that's better than it has any right to be, a $15 desk lamp with a dimmer, and three more finds for small spaces

Five July 2026 early-arrivals and one real-world-tested find landed this week — four confirmed live on IKEA US, one reviewed from first-hand use by Apartment Therapy. The SPJUTLILJA tableware line soft-launched ahead of its July 1 official date and is already on sale in the US. None of these five have appeared in earlier issues of this series.

Pick 1: KORVSNÖRE LED desk lamp — $14.99
Best for: A WFH desk that needs actual dimmable task lighting without the $60–$100 price tag most dimmable desk lamps carry
The KORVSNÖRE (article no. 106.287.03, orange; 006.287.04, white) just went live on IKEA US this week as part of the July 2026 early arrivals. 1 It's a dimmable LED desk lamp with a spherical head, arched neck, and circular weighted base — the dial dimmer sits on the base rather than on the cord, which is the right call for a desk lamp you're adjusting dozens of times a day. The lamp doubles as a wall lamp; IKEA sells a mounting bracket separately.
Available in orange and white. Also confirmed live on IKEA Latvia and IKEA Indonesia this week; UK and Japan pricing are not yet confirmed. 1

Pick 2: SPJUTLILJA 3-piece serving set — $9.99
Best for: A one-person kitchen that wants actual crockery — not matching-set conformity — for under $10
The SPJUTLILJA serving set (article no. 10613730) soft-launched this week across more than seven IKEA markets simultaneously, ahead of its July 1 official release date. 2 The three pieces — a mug, a bowl, and a deep plate — are stoneware with a coloured glaze and come in deliberately mismatched colours within the same set. Every piece is microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. 3
Designer Juliette Szott described the brief she set for herself: "When it came to designing a tableware set for everyone who is young at heart, my inspiration came from the ceramics I collected when I decorated my first home. I lived small, loved color, and was always looking for affordable, personal products that turn simple meals into something more." 1
The US price is listed at $9.99 with a 23% discount flag, which puts the pre-sale price around $12.99. The IKEA Summer Sale runs through July 2 in the US; a separate 3-pack of SPJUTLILJA bowls (4½″ / 12 cm diameter) goes for $7.99 for three. 4

Pick 3: ENHET laundry bin with casters — $65
Best for: Small apartments where the laundry hamper lives in the bedroom or a narrow hallway corner, visible year-round
At 11″ wide, the ENHET laundry bin (article no. 506.139.07, white frame; 706.139.06, anthracite frame) is narrower than most nightstands. Apartment Therapy's Alexa Casanova, who tested it in her own home, wrote: "It's by far the sleekest laundry hamper I've come across" and "it packs an impressively high capacity into small-space-friendly dimensions." 5
The capacity is 21 gallons (80 liters) — enough for one to two weeks of laundry in a one-person household. There's a sewn-in divider to separate lights and darks, a fabric lid that hides the contents, and four rolling casters (two of which lock). The polyester bag detaches via Velcro and goes straight into the washing machine. 5
On price: at $65, Casanova noted it's on the pricier end for an IKEA piece but "quite affordable compared to other hampers on the market." The UK equivalent is £55; Japan ¥9,990. If you're outside the US Summer Sale window, there's no current discount on this item. 5

Best for: A small apartment where "extra seating" needs to disappear into a corner when not in use
The GULTARP (article no. 706.170.99, anthracite/Remmarn anthracite) is a round padded stool on four slim black metal legs, now live on IKEA US as one of the earliest July 2026 arrivals. 1 The design stacks — multiple stools nest inside each other — so three or four units store in roughly the footprint of one.
Three colorways are available: anthracite (grey upholstery + black frame), and at least two others previewed in The Nordroom's July 2026 roundup. At $4.99, it slots in as the least-expensive seating option IKEA currently lists. 1 UK, Japan, and Sweden pricing are not yet indexed.

Pick 5: UPPÅTVIND portable air purifier — $39.99 (sale, was $49.99)
Best for: A WFH desk or small bedroom where air quality matters and a fixed-position tower purifier would take up too much floor space
The UPPÅTVIND (article no. 604.982.28) went live on IKEA US this week at $49.99 and is currently 20% off through the Summer Sale (ends July 2), bringing it to $39.99. 4 The designer, David Wahl, described the goal: "My idea with UPPÅTVIND was to create an air purifier that is small enough to carry around, and feels less technical in its expression. So it has soft colors and a textile handle, adding a sense of tactility and homeliness." 1
The textile carry handle is functional — you pick it up and move it from the desk to the bedside and back. The coverage area is approximately 75 square feet — enough for a studio bedroom or a defined WFH corner within a larger room. 1 It filters particulate matter and pollen; the replacement filter is sold separately.
