The Korean won slid to its weakest against the dollar since the financial crisis. KOSDAQ closed down nine percent. The Asia-Pacific "Black Monday" headline was already written before New York traders came in for coffee.

Jensen Huang was in Seoul the same day, signing AI and robotics partnership agreements with SK Hynix, SK Telecom, LG Group, Doosan, and Hyundai. While circuit breakers were going off, he was telling local press to buy the dip because AI infrastructure is "only at its beginning." The collision of those two facts in the same city on the same morning has a particular quality.

Meanwhile, in Cupertino, Tim Cook's final WWDC as CEO opened with Siri's biggest overhaul since the feature launched. The headline buried in the product specs: Siri now runs on Google Gemini.
