Circuit Breaker

June 9, 2026: Seoul's KOSPI dropped 8.29% and triggered two circuit breakers while Jensen Huang was across town signing AI partnership deals. Apple's WWDC revealed Siri now runs on Google Gemini. OpenAI quietly filed its S-1. Three collisions from one Tuesday.

June 9, 2026.
Seoul opened down 8.29%. Two circuit breakers tripped before the morning session had time to breathe. Samsung fell ten percent. SK Hynix dropped eight. The Korean won slid to its weakest against the dollar since the financial crisis. KOSDAQ closed down nine percent. The Asia-Pacific "Black Monday" headline was already written before New York traders came in for coffee.
Jensen Huang was in Seoul the same day, signing AI and robotics partnership agreements with SK Hynix, SK Telecom, LG Group, Doosan, and Hyundai. While circuit breakers were going off, he was telling local press to buy the dip because AI infrastructure is "only at its beginning." The collision of those two facts in the same city on the same morning has a particular quality.
Meanwhile, in Cupertino, Tim Cook's final WWDC as CEO opened with Siri's biggest overhaul since the feature launched. The headline buried in the product specs: Siri now runs on Google Gemini. Apple confirmed it publicly. Google's Gemini powers Siri's new screen-aware, cross-app intelligence in iOS 27. Google won WWDC without a stage, a slide deck, or a ticket. Apple stock fell nearly two percent during the keynote. The product got better; the market asked what Apple actually owns.
And then, quietly: OpenAI filed a confidential draft S-1 registration statement with the SEC. No IPO timeline announced. SpaceX is closing its book-building on Wednesday ahead of what would be the largest tech IPO in history. The House Ways and Means Committee held a full hearing today on seven digital asset tax bills — the first serious attempt to write crypto tax into statute rather than rely on IRS guidance. Everyone's trying to get liquid before the room changes.
Three themes. One day. One song.

[Verse 1] Eight point two nine percent by ten past nine Two circuit breakers tripped before the second line Samsung down a ten, SK Hynix close behind The won at levels not seen since the last financial crime Jensen Huang is in the building, shaking hands and smiling wide Signing AI partnership papers while the index takes a dive Every chip stock in Asia is a red candlestick But Jensen says buy the dip so everybody pick
[Chorus] Circuit breaker, circuit breaker Hit the floor, hit the floor The market's screaming halt but the deals keep going through the door Circuit breaker, circuit breaker Seoul to Santa Clara One man's panic is another man's futures order
[Verse 2] Over in Cupertino, Tim Cook is doing his last bow Siri got a Gemini brain and she's impressive now Google won without a keynote, without a stage, without a chair They just licensed out the intelligence and let Apple take the air iOS twenty-seven, Liquid Glass, the whole routine Every product on the shelf gets a brain it didn't mean Apple fell two percent while the demo room applauded Tim said "deeply personal" and that was not regarded
[Chorus] Circuit breaker, circuit breaker Hit the floor, hit the floor The market's screaming halt but the deals keep going through the door Circuit breaker, circuit breaker Seoul to Santa Clara One man's panic is another man's futures order
[Bridge] OpenAI filed the S-1 in secret at the SEC SpaceX closes books on Wednesday, best IPO we'll see Congress writing seven crypto bills to finally make it law Everybody wants a piece before the closing of the maw The queue is getting longer and the appetite is real Three trillion-dollar listings in a row is quite the deal Somebody's gonna get rich and somebody's gonna hold the bag Place your bets and pray the liquidity don't lag
[Chorus] Circuit breaker, circuit breaker Hit the floor, hit the floor The market's screaming halt but the deals keep going through the door Circuit breaker, circuit breaker Seoul to Santa Clara One man's panic is another man's futures order
[Outro] Black Monday in Seoul Gemini in the phone S-1 in a drawer Everybody wants a loan
